| 7/23/09 - Strix Systems announced
availability of the new Access/One Network Outdoor Wireless Mesh Network System model
MWS-100 HSx. The MWS-100 HSx is a powerful dual-radio system that is
significantly more cost-effective to deploy than other mesh and point to
multi-point systems, and provides robust features, functionality and
industry proven performance. It includes the same architectural core
competencies of Strix' low-latency Layer 2 switching architecture and
Dynamic Mesh Algorithms (DMA) for an intelligent self-healing,
self-configuring and self-tuning solution.
MWS-100 HSx employs Strix System's award winning Access/One™ and
Manager/One software platform; providing fully functional complementary
infrastructure AP to other Strix outdoor or indoor wireless systems. The
new HSx architecture, designed specifically to target hot zones, rural
deployments and mesh extensions, provides rich support for VLANs and
enables the high-powered device to efficiently extend signals over greater
distances.
Centralized system level provisioning and monitoring capabilities along
with Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology make the system easy to deploy --
even in extremely rugged environments where mounting assets are
unavailable.
"As a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering economic progress,
OneCommunity is building one of the largest and fastest fiber-optic and
wireless broadband networks in the world," said Mark Ansboury, senior vice
president/chief technology officer of OneCommunity. "As we expand our
network beyond the 1,000 public and nonprofit institutions that already
depend on us, it is critical that our suppliers deliver unparalleled
performance and scalability at the industry's lowest cost of ownership.
Strix Systems has repeatedly delivered affordable high-performance
solutions. We are enthusiastic about the performance enhancements for
larger networks that the new MWS-100 HSx will bring to our aggressive
wireless growth plans."
The MWS-100 HSx and Access/One software boast many new features and
enhancements, including large scalable network support for thousands of
nodes, improved web management response time, performance enhanced
reporting of internetwork node communication, efficient dynamic handling of
low data rate users that slow down networks and packet bursting and packet
compression for increased throughput over longer distances.
MWS-100 HSx is packaged in a small form factor rugged IP67 enclosure,
weighs a mere 2.4 lbs and measures 8 1/4 W x 7 1/4 H x 2 1/4 D. It packs a
punch with 400mW and 500mW radio transmit power in the frequency bands of
5.15-5.85GHz, 2.4 GHz and Public Safety 4.9 GHz. The system has a 10/100
Base-T Ethernet port and also supports High Power PoE in addition to 12 -
48 VDC.
